Muscular Development Magazine (ISSN 0047-8415) is published monthly by Advanced Research Press
In 1997, Muscular Development changed the style ... "A wise man man once said the only thing you can be sure of is change. In our quest to give our readers what they want, change is inevitable. In addressing these needs, we have completely revamped this magazine to be the definitive source for cutting-edge research and information to help you reach your fitness goals, as well as a forum to showcase the majesty of the end result. With the reader in mind, we have completely redesigned our magazine emulating the fact paced age of the Internet." Muscular Development also wants its readers to know that they are quality, not quanity in terms of their pages. They no longer cover bodybuilding competitions.
"We believe bodybuilding, in the true sense, is synonymous with living a healthy lifestyle. There are those who believe otherwise, that bodybuilding is about how much muscle you can build by any means, healthy or not, even including the use of dangerous, illegal drugs, anything. This is not a magazine for them. This magazine is for everyone who goes to a gym, eats healthy and endeavors to build their body - to make themselves look and feel better; to slow the aging process; to build muscle and burn fat; to be healthy and more fit." - Steve Blechman, Publisher & Editor-in-Chief
In 2000, the new motto on the cover is 'Build muscle, burn fat, be fit'. They also now write 'sports and fitness magazine' after Muscular Development on the cover. Their new style is a magazine with a sports training slant. In late 2000, the 'sports and fitness magazine' changed to 'health and fitness magazine'.
In 2001, Twinlab sold Muscular Development to Steve Blechman, who resigned from Twinlab. Their new motto on the cover is 'Build Muscle, Burn Fat, No Bullshit. No more sports and fitness magazine after the title on the cover. And is now starting to introduce the beautiful figure and fitness models that was absent from the magazine.
In 2002, the magazine is much more hardcore, with graphic sexual illustrations, stories on professional bodybuilders, lots of pictorials on large brested women, along with good information.
In 2004, no more busty women, just hardcore bodybuilding. Bodybuilders are on the cover again. Motto is 'Build Muscle, Burn Fat, No Bull!'

In 1995, Muscular development, originally owned by Twinlab, was another serious bodybuilder magazine that concentrates on natural bodybuilding, but also covers fitness and health related items. They pride themselves on giving its readers extensive coverage on the cutting edge of training, diet and nutrition articles. It also has great pictures of bodybuilders, and makes for enjoyable reading. The look of natural bodybuilding and less on the hardcore look is what Muscular Development stands for. With everything geared towards the natural look, it continued to attack steroids, drugs, etc.
